G.R.I.P. Announces The Arrival Of Its Hot Steel Hybrids
G.R.I.P.’s Second Generation Hybrids’ Ideal For Long, High, Soft-Landing Shots From The Fairway, Rough & Tee
GRAFTON, MASS– June 9, 2008 – Golf Research In Play (G.R.I.P.), a golf equipment manufacturer and an online retailer dedicated to developing and offering the finest quality golf clubs, today unveiled its G.R.I.P. “Hot Steel” Hybrids. Available through www.gripgolf.com, G.R.I.P.’s Hot Steel Hybrids are the second generation of its best-selling hybrid series.
Continuing to pioneer the hybrid market, G.R.I.P.’s 2008 hybrid lineup not only includes replacements for the low irons (2-iron, 3-iron and 4-iron) but also includes mid-iron replacements — a 5H 25 degree and a 6H 29 degree. Attractively priced at $69.95, these new Hot Steel Hybrids blend the best playing characteristics of G.R.I.P.’s fairway metals and long irons to provide superior playability and control from the fairway, rough and tee.
“Since the introduction of our G.R.I.P. Hyper Steel Hybrids in 2006, the popularity of hybrids as replacements for long irons has grown not only with our core market of recreational golfers, but they have also become a mainstay of the touring professionals,” said Robert Blumberg, president, G.R.I.P. “With our new G.R.I.P. Hot Steel Hybrids, golfers of all abilities will have the confidence that they need to attempt long, high, soft-landing shots.”
H2045 Cast Stainless “Hot Steel”
The G.R.I.P. Hot Steel Hybrids are cast using the same heat-treated, H2045 cast stainless Hot Steel that G.R.I.P. used in the development of its fairway woods. This “Hot Steel” is lighter and stronger than most of the conventional metals — 431 stainless steel and 17-4 steel — used in today’s hybrids. The clubs’ Hot Steel combined with their low center of gravity and high repulsion structure enable golfers to deliver higher-launching, longer-flying shots from all conditions and lies.
Teardrop-Shaped Clubhead & Scoop-Back Design
G.R.I.P.’s Hot Steel Hybrids feature a sleek, teardrop-shaped clubhead. Their slight offset promotes a square face at impact, thereby preventing slicing and making it easy to control trajectory and direction. The clubs’ wider, shallower face provides a larger hitting area than a traditional iron.
These Hot Steel Hybrids feature a well contoured sole, with a swept up heel and toe, giving golfer’s the versatility that they need in the most difficult situations. In addition, fixed weight ports offer optimum weight distribution in the heel of the club, increasing MOI, promoting higher ball flight, and increasing velocity at impact.
The Scoop-Back Design and the clubs’ blunter toe add a very modern look to the G.R.I.P. Hot Steel Hybrids, and make them very eye-catching at address.
A Variety of Lofts — Perfect for Replacing Low and Mid Irons
Available in 2H 16 degree, 3H 19 degree, 4H 21 degree, 5H 25 degree and 6H 29 degree models, the new G.R.I.P. hybrids provide an outstanding alternative for both the low irons and mid irons. Matching headcovers come standard to reduce excess wear and tear.
Pricing and Availability
The MSRP for the G.R.I.P. Hot Steel Hybrids is $69.95. These clubs can be purchased at www.gripgolf.com.

G.R.I.P. Debuts Its 8620 OC Wedges
New Oil Can Finish Wedges Ideal For Recreational Golfers Looking To Carry The Wedges Preferred By The Pros
GRAFTON, MASS – June 9, 2008 – Golf Research In Play (G.R.I.P.), a golf equipment manufacturer and an online retailer dedicated to developing and offering the finest quality golf clubs, today introduced the latest addition to its wedge lineup — the G.R.I.P. 8620 OC Wedges. These Oil Can finish wedges combine a tour-inspired sole with 8620 Carbon Steel, delivering a buttery soft feel on contact, consistent shot-making ability, and remarkable bite and control. Available through http://www.gripgolf.com/, the G.R.I.P. 8620 OC Wedges allow golfers of all playing abilities to carry the “raw” Carbon Steel wedges that the professionals prefer.
To create their visually appealing Oil Can finish and non-glare look, each of the G.R.I.P. 8620 OC Wedges has undergone a special heat oxide treatment process. Over time, the Oil Can finish will wear away resulting in a raw (lightly rusted) wedge. The club’s darker color makes it easier to frame the ball and square the clubhead at address.
“The G.R.I.P. 8620 OC Wedges are a great complement to our signature lineup of CNC Milled Wedges,” said Robert Blumberg, president, G.R.I.P. “Our core market of recreational golfers can now feel like touring professionals with this ‘raw’ wedge that will give them exceptional bite and control.”
G.R.I.P. 8620 OC Wedges Distinct Design Features:
· Tour-proven V-Grooves offer a clean, sharp, consistent groove edge that grips the cover of the ball more effectively and provides exceptional spin control.
· Classic wedge styling — teardrop head shape, narrow top line and high-rounded toe.
· Beveled edge sole allows shots to be played with the blade open or square.
· Minimal offset.
· Oil Can finish reduces glare and makes shot lineup easier.
· “Raw” (lightly rusted) natural finish appeals to both the high level player and the recreational golfer.
A Wide Variety of Lofts & Shafts
Available in a 52 degree Gap/Scoring Wedge, 56 degree Sand/Fairway Wedge, 60 degree Lob Wedge, and 64 degree Super Lob Wedge, the new G.R.I.P. 8620 OC Wedges utilize the versatile True Temper Steel shafts, which offer golfers a traditional feel and a penetrating shot trajectory. G.R.I.P.’s 8620 OC Women’s Wedges use a low-torque, high modulus graphite shaft.
Pricing and Availability
The MSRP for the G.R.I.P. 8620 OC Wedges is $54.95. These clubs can be purchased at http://www.gogrip.com.

Rankmark Names G.R.I.P.’s OWT Wide Sole Irons the “Best of the Best” for 2007
GRAFTON, MASS – October 22, 2007 – Golf Research In Play (G.R.I.P.), a golf equipment manufacturer and an online-focused retailer dedicated to developing and offering the finest quality golf clubs, today announced that Rankmark, America’s premier golf testing company, recently honored G.R.I.P.’s OWT Wide Sole Irons with its 2007 “Best of the Best” Award.
“We are extremely proud to have received this recognition from Rankmark. Our irons were designed to be the most forgiving, game improving iron set available. This award is a direct result of our development efforts,” said Robert Blumberg, president, G.R.I.P. “To be ranked right up there with the industry elite and know that our custom-fitted irons are a fraction of the price is a great feeling.”
Special “Best of the Best” Iron Test
Over the last few months, Rankmark conducted its Special Iron Test to determine its 2007 “Best of the Best” Award winners. With the assistance of PGA Professional David Budney, Rankmark devised a new way to determine which iron sets are best for golfers to check out first, or in fact buy, when looking for a new set of clubs.
Rankmark selected 30 different iron sets to test under its new system. Some were well known for their high quality, while the others Rankmark selected were thought to be qualified but not as well known. A 15-point scoring system was then created for each player participating in the test to rank the clubs: 5 points for first, 4 points for second, 3 points for third, 2 points for fourth and 1 point for fifth.
After testing the 30 sets, the field was narrowed to the Top 8. Then, Rankmark added the Ping G-10 to the mix. Additional testing was conducted on this new field of nine. Each of the top clubs was honored with Rankmark’s 2007 “Best of the Best” Award. The top clubs in alphabetical order are: Callaway Big Bertha, Cleveland Hybrid, G.R.I.P. OWT Wide Sole, King Cobra 3100 I/H, Nicklaus High CT, Nike OSS, Ping G-10, Titleist 775CB and Wedgewood IR Silver.
“This Special Iron Test gave us the opportunity to test out some of the quality, lesser known brands such as G.R.I.P. and compare them to the current industry leaders. G.R.I.P. finishing in the top tier is a testament to the craftsmanship of its clubs,” said Charlie Mandel, CEO, Rankmark. “I believe G.R.I.P. is going to play a significant role in the future of the game.”
G.R.I.P. OWT Wide Sole Irons Availability and Pricing
Available through http://www.gogrip.com/, G.R.I.P.’s oversized irons offer unmatched performance, playability and forgiveness. Crafted from 431 Stainless Steel, the G.R.I.P. Wide Sole Irons utilize Optimal Wide Sole Trajectory Technology (OWT). OWT delivers a wider than usual sole, an undercut cavity back channel, a low center of gravity, a thick top line, and a progressive offset.
All of the G.R.I.P. OWT Wide Sole Iron Sets are custom fitted at no cost to ensure proper club length, shaft type, lie angle and grip size. A variety of shaft options are available for the G.R.I.P. OWT Wide Sole Irons, including True Temper Steel, Graphite Regular, Graphite Stiff, Lady’s Graphite and Senior Graphite. The MSRP for a set of G.R.I.P. OWT Wide Sole Irons with steel shafts is $269.95 and the MSRP for a G.R.I.P. iron set with graphite shafts is $299.95.

The program has been developed to complement the company’s thriving online golf club business and support the Give2TheTroops® (G2TTs) “Tee Off For The Troops™” Campaign.
Available through http://www.gogrip.com/, G.R.I.P.’s current and prospective customers can send their gently used clubs to G.R.I.P. in exchange for a credit towards new G.R.I.P. clubs. The company will donate a portion of the clubs received through its trade-in program to G2TTs, who will in turn ship the used equipment to deployed U.S. troops who have requested clubs for recreational purposes.
“We have received a lot of requests from our customers for a trade-in program. I am very excited that we can not only offer this new service to our customer base, but also provide some much needed recreation and enjoyment to our troops who risk their lives every day to protect us,” said Robert Blumberg, president, Golf Research In Play.
Unique Features of G.R.I.P.’s Trade-In Program
Unlike other golf club trade-in programs, G.R.I.P. offers its customers credit for any clubs sent in, provided that the clubs do not have bent shafts, rusting heads, dents, excessive paint chipping, large pop–up marks, significant dings, missing decals, and loose ferrules. In addition, the clubs’ length must not exceed +/-1.5" and the lie angle must not exceed +/-3 degrees. Other trade-in programs only give credit in exchange for golf clubs that still have a significant value on the secondary market.
G.R.I.P. Trade-In Submission Process:
G.R.I.P. customers should send their gently used clubs to:
Golf Research In Play
Attn: Trade-Ins
333 Southwest Cutoff/Route 20

With the used club shipment, customers are requested to submit the G.R.I.P. trade-in form, which can be found on the G.R.I.P. Web site at http://www.gogrip.com/p-45-tradein.aspx. Upon receipt of the clubs, G.R.I.P. will issue the customer a credit in approximately 3-4 business days based on the make, model, year and condition of the clubs. The trade-in credit will be in the form of a coupon code that the customer receives via email, which can be used toward a http://www.gogrip.com/purchase.
“We are absolutely thrilled that G.R.I.P. is helping us to provide this recreation to our troops deployed overseas. If you could imagine living in the desert, with no television or other leisure activities and amusements that we take for granted, then you could truly appreciate how much enjoyment our troops get from hitting golf balls during their recreation time,” said Barbara Whitehead, NC branch director, Give2TheTroops, Inc.
“Tee Off For The Troops” Campaign
The “Tee Off For The Troops” Campaign was launched in 2004, when a few sailors wanted clubs to tee off their ships. Soon other troops began asking G2TTs if the organization could get them golf equipment, turf, tees, balls and clubs. It was successful in its mission. Since its inception, it has shipped hundreds of golf sets to deployed U.S. troops.

büji® & Partners Unite for the Great Golf Stroke-Off Contest
First ever national contest spotlights stroke-adding horror stories with on-line community sharing and practical advice from the pros on improving play
CHICAGO, June 15, 2007: Slow golfers, poison ivy, rattlesnakes, alligators, and a host of other irritations are examples of frequently reported nuisances of the fairway that add strokes to a golfer’s game. Now golfers can compare horror stories and win an incredible bi-weekly prize package in the Great Golf Stroke-Off Contest, sponsored by G.R.I.P., büji, and Jack Moorehouse, author of How to Break 80. Through humor and commiseration, the contest blog (http://golf.bujiproducts.com/) is ultimately intended to be a source of education and practical advice for employing useable techniques and common-sense strategies to improve golfers’ games.
Golfers are invited to share their stories that made them see red while on the green on the blog. Bi-weekly, a panel of judges will comment on and select the most skin-crawling of the submissions and the (un)lucky golfer will win a prize package of must-have golf products from each of the sponsoring companies with a total retail value of $299 per prize package. By summer’s end this blog intends to be one of the most robust archives of humorous golf horror stories on the Internet. (See büji video teaser*.)
“We learned that poison ivy is just one of the many elements that add strokes to a golfer’s game through our recently conducted national survey** and wanted to collect and reward those who have experienced the true horrors of the fairway! Of course, our panel of crack moderators will be there to comment, encourage and offer helpful tips on improving golfers’ games” said Cadey O’Leary, president of büji, LLC.
The contest will run for 12 weeks, beginning on June 15, and will be moderated by a rotating panel of golf pros from the participating sponsors. Golf pros and other experts will share techniques for enhancing play while avoiding common stroke-adding pitfalls. “We have put together incredible prize packages and will be distributing 12 of them to selected golfers who share their stories with us. No doubt a ‘can you top this’ streak will be running through this contest. Let the games begin!” adds O’Leary.
Prizes:

G.R.I.P. ANNOUNCES THE ARRIVAL OF its HOT STEEL FAIRWAY WOODS
Fairway Woods’ Club Design Provides Intense Ball Velocity, Unmatched Carry and Roll, and Superior Distance
GRAFTON, MASS – May 17, 2007 – Golf Research In Play (G.R.I.P.), a golf equipment manufacturer and an online retailer dedicated to developing and offering the finest quality golf clubs, today unveiled its G.R.I.P. Hot Steel Fairway Woods. Available through http://www.gogrip.com/, these fairway woods give golfers certainty in their swing from anywhere on the course.
H2045 Cast Stainless “Hot Steel”
The clubface of the G.R.I.P. Fairway Woods is made from a heat-treated, H2045 cast stainless “Hot Steel,” which is lighter and stronger than the standard metals — 431 and 17-4 steel — used in most of today’s golf clubs. By working with H2045 steel, G.R.I.P. was able to decrease the face thickness of its fairway woods from the standard 3.0mm to 2.0mm. As a result of the reduced thickness and the clubs’ shallow face, golfers can launch the ball with intense velocity, thus increasing the ball speed.
Back-of-the-Head Weighting
The G.R.I.P. Hot Steel Fairway Woods sleek design features a low- to mid-profile. Fixed weight ports in the back of the each club make the G.R.I.P. Hot Steel Fairway Woods easy-to-hit and make it easy-to-launch the ball, while not sacrificing distance. Additionally, the clubs’ design produces higher ball flight and lower spin conditions, leading to unmatched carry and roll, and superior distance.
A Variety of Lofts and Shafts
The G.R.I.P. Fairway Woods are available in three different lofts — 3-wood 15 degree, 5-wood 18 degree, and 7-wood 21 degree. In addition, G.R.I.P. offers a choice of shafts, including graphite (Regular, Stiff Flex, Lady Flex and Senior Flex) and True Temper Steel (Regular or Stiff Flex).
“Our Hot Steel Fairway Woods will give recreational golfers confidence from the fairway, rough, and tee. These attractively priced fairway woods were developed with best-in-class materials and were designed to deliver superior forgiveness,” said Michael Blair, director of golf club development, G.R.I.P. “Golfers will feel comfortable with the clubs’ sleek look and enjoy the benefits of the clubs’ advanced features, including the shallow club face and the back-of-the-head weighting.”
Pricing and Availability
The MSRP for the G.R.I.P. Hot Steel Fairway Woods is $79.95. These clubs can be purchased at http://www.gogrip.com/ or the G.R.I.P. retail locations at the East Coast Golf Academy and Practice Center, 333 Southwest Cutoff/Route 20, Northborough, Mass. and the G.R.I.P. G.R.I.P. Continues its revolution in Golf equipment with its NEW owt wide sole irons
GRAFTON, MASS – April 9, 2007 – Golf Research In Play (G.R.I.P.), a golf equipment manufacturer and an online retailer dedicated to developing and offering the finest quality golf clubs, today introduced its G.R.I.P. OWT Wide Sole Irons. Available through http://www.gogrip.com/, G.R.I.P.’s new oversized irons offer unmatched performance, playability and forgiveness.
Advantages of the OWT Wide Sole Design:
· The wide sole prevents the irons from digging into the turf, which ensures solid contact even on fat and thin shots.
· The oversized shape allows for a bigger effective hitting area, with a large, confidence-inspiring sweet spot.
· The undercut cavity back channel and low center of gravity repositions the weight low and back for an optimal ball launch angle, making it easier to get the ball airborne and increasing MOI (Moment of Inertia). High MOI prevents twisting on off-center shots, resulting in increased forgiveness and penetrating ball flight.
· The thick top line makes it simple to frame the ball and aim shots. In addition, the sandblasted finish on the top line decreases glare at set-up and gives the clubs an esthetically pleasing finish.
· The irons have a moderate offset progression, ranging from some offset in the long irons to minimal offset in the wedges. The offset increases the forgiveness and helps produce proper trajectory.
“Maintaining our commitment to the recreational golfer market — a market that shares a passion for golf and is highly interested in affordable, technologically advanced golf clubs — we developed our OWT Wide Sole Irons. Our irons were designed to be the most forgiving, game improving iron set available,” said Michael Blair, director of golf club development, G.R.I.P. “These 100 percent original, oversized golf clubs are made from superior materials, utilize the latest design concepts, and are a fraction of the price of the custom-fitted irons offered by the major brands.”
G.R.I.P. Custom-Fitted Iron Sets
All of the G.R.I.P. OWT Wide Sole Iron Sets are custom fitted at no cost to ensure proper club length, shaft type, lie angle and grip size. G.R.I.P.’s “Most Popular” Iron Set for Men includes: 8 irons (4-9 plus a PW and SW) and a 3H 19 degree G.R.I.P. Hyper Steel Hybrid. G.R.I.P’s “Most Popular” Iron Set for Women includes: 7 irons (5-9 plus a PW and SW), and a 3H 19 degree and a 4H 21 degree G.R.I.P. Hyper Steel Hybrid. G.R.I.P. introduces its NEW 460cc Beta titanium driver
New Driver Delivers a Generous Sweet Spot, a Deep Clubface, Elevated MOI and
Rear-Sole Weighting for Fewer Mis-Hits and Maximum Distance
GRAFTON, MASS– April 23, 2007 – Golf Research In Play (G.R.I.P.), a golf equipment manufacturer and an online retailer dedicated to developing and offering the finest quality golf clubs, today introduced its G.R.I.P. 460cc Beta Titanium Driver. Available through http://www.gogrip.com/, golfers will enjoy the power of the driver’s enormous beta titanium clubhead, while appreciating the club’s classic driver shape.
The G.R.I.P. driver’s 460cc beta titanium clubhead is the largest permissible by the USGA. Constructed using aerospace-grade, beta titanium, with the maximum allowable COR (Coefficient of Restitution), the G.R.I.P. driver’s clubface is able to give slightly at impact and spring back. In addition, the clubface’s generous sweet spot produces exceptionally long and straight drives, and fewer mis-hits. Its deep clubface also promotes a high launch angle and low spin rate to maximize distance.
Elevated MOI
The G.R.I.P. 460cc driver’s innovative design boosts its MOI (Moment of Inertia) by moving the club’s weight from its center, decreasing side spin and increasing ball speed. The elevated MOI also significantly reduces twisting of the clubhead, allowing for straighter shots even on off-center hits.
Rear-Sole Weighting
When developing its new driver, G.R.I.P. included swing-correcting, fixed weight ports in the club’s rear sole, for a lower, deeper center of gravity that helps close the clubface at impact and eliminate or reduce slicing. The G.R.I.P. fixed weighting system also reacts effortlessly to off-center hits by squaring the face during contact, making it a benchmark in fixed-weight driver technology.
“Our 460cc Beta Titanium Driver is ideally suited for the recreational golfer market with its massive clubhead and its generous sweet spot for maximizing distance. In addition, with the club’s elevated MOI and rear-sole weighting, golfers should experience straighter shots off the tee,” said Michael Blair, director of golf club development, G.R.I.P. “Affordably priced at just over $100, this 460cc Beta Titanium Driver will have an immediate impact on a golfer’s game without putting a hole in their pocket.”
Pricing and Availability
The G.R.I.P. 460cc Beta Titanium Driver is available in three different lofts 9 degree, 10.5 degree and 12 degree. A variety of shaft types are also available for the new G.R.I.P. driver, including a choice of graphite — Regular, Stiff Flex, Senior Flex, Lady Flex — or True Temper Steel Regular or Stiff Flex. The MSRP for the G.R.I.P. 460cc Beta Titanium Driver is $129.95. The G.R.I.P. driver can be purchased at http://www.gogrip.com/ or the G.R.I.P. retail locations at the East Coast Golf Academy and Practice Center, 333 Southwest Cutoff/Route 20, Northborough, Mass. or the G.R.I.P.
